The 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG), originally scheduled for 2026, will now be held from March 28 to April 8, 2027, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Riyadh 2026 Local Organising Committee have officially announced.
The decision to revise the competition schedule follows a comprehensive review of organisational and logistical arrangements, undertaken in coordination with National Olympic Committees (NOCs), stakeholders and partners involved in the OCA-sanctioned event.
According to the organisers, the revised dates will facilitate better coordination of schedules and operational arrangements while ensuring the widest possible participation of eligible National Olympic Committees from across Asia.
Saudi Arabia is preparing to welcome more than 4,500 athletes from over 45 National Olympic Committees for the continental sporting event. The OCA and the Local Organising Committee, in coordination with the relevant authorities of the Kingdom, have confirmed that preparations are progressing as planned for the newly scheduled dates.
The 6th edition of AIMAG will mark a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia, becoming the first multi-sport event organised under the Olympic Council of Asia to be hosted by the Kingdom.
The Games also form part of Saudi Arabia’s broader ambitions under Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to expand sports participation, nurture sporting talent, promote community engagement and position the Kingdom as a leading international destination for major sporting events.
With the revised schedule, Riyadh is now set to host one of Asia’s major multi-sport competitions in March–April 2027, bringing together athletes from across the continent to compete in indoor sports and martial arts.
