The Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DoESW), Ministry of Defence, organised an Ex-Servicemen Job Fair in Dibrugarh, Assam, on October 30, 2026, to facilitate career opportunities for retired and transitioning Armed Forces personnel.

The fair witnessed participation from over 434 Ex-Servicemen and 32 leading national and multinational companies, with more than 350 job vacancies across diverse sectors. The initiative provided a common platform for veterans to explore second-career opportunities and for corporate organisations to tap into the skills, discipline, leadership and professional expertise developed during military service.

The job fair was inaugurated by Maj Gen Vishal Pathania, SM, GOC, 41 Sub Area, along with Maj Gen S B K Singh, SM, Director General Resettlement (DGR), and Brig Saumya Banerjee, SM. Col P K Ghosh (Retd), Director, Jalan Industries, and Gp Capt Mohanto Panging, VSM (Retd), attended the event as Corporate Guests of Honour.

Senior military officers interacted with participating veterans and corporate representatives to understand industry requirements, emerging employment trends and the professional competencies sought by employers. The interactions underscored the growing recognition of military experience as a valuable asset in the corporate and civilian sectors.

Among the prominent organisations participating in the recruitment drive were Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited, Assam Petro-Chemicals, Innovision Guwahati, Jalan Industries, Oil India, ICICI Bank, Dibrugarh University and Udchalo, along with several other reputed companies.

The participating organisations offered veterans opportunities to explore roles matching their technical, managerial, administrative and leadership capabilities. The event also highlighted the potential of former Armed Forces personnel to contribute meaningfully to industries through their operational experience, professional integrity, adaptability and proven ability to work under challenging conditions.

The Dibrugarh job fair reaffirmed DGR’s commitment to ensuring a smooth transition of retiring and retired Armed Forces personnel into civilian life by facilitating employment, skill development, entrepreneurship and stronger industry partnerships.

Under the guidance of the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, the initiative reflects the Government’s continued efforts to provide veterans with dignified and meaningful second-career opportunities, enabling them to remain productive contributors to nation-building even after their military service.

DGR has also urged corporate organisations and industry associations to strengthen their engagement with the ex-servicemen community and utilise the extensive experience, discipline, leadership and professional capabilities of military veterans in India’s growing workforce.
