Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of veterans and their families, the Indian Army’s Tiger Division organised a large-scale Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally at Miran Sahib, Jammu, on October 30, 2026.
The rally witnessed participation of more than 1,300 ex-servicemen and their family members, including Veer Naris, Veer Matas, gallantry awardees and battle casualty cases. Lieutenant General Akaash Johar, AVSM, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Rising Star Corps, attended the event as the Chief Guest.
A major highlight of the rally was the felicitation of 45 Veer Naris, Veer Matas and gallantry awardees in recognition of their courage, sacrifices and distinguished service to the nation. The gesture reaffirmed the Army’s gratitude towards veterans and the families of those who made the supreme sacrifices in defence of the country.
The event provided a common platform for veterans to reconnect with the Army and seek assistance on pension, healthcare, resettlement, employment and other service-related matters. Dedicated stalls were established by various Army and government agencies to provide welfare services and information under one roof.
Participating organisations included the Army Welfare Placement Organisation, Directorate of Indian Army Veterans, Naman Centre, PCDA Jammu, Directorate General Resettlement North, Records, Army Recruiting Office, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Veteran Sahayta Kendra, banks and Unit Run Canteen. Departments of the Jammu and Kashmir administration, including Social Welfare, Industries, SKUAST, National Career Service, Mission Shakti and Yuva, also extended their support.
In a significant welfare initiative, the Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV), War Wounded Foundation, Framjee Cawasjee Institute, Self Less Service Society and Rotary Club Mumbai provided mobility and assistive equipment to beneficiaries. The assistance included nine modified scooters, six motorised wheelchairs, 10 wheelchairs, five hearing aids and five walking sticks, along with financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries.

A dedicated medical camp was also organised to provide healthcare support and medical assistance to veterans and their families.
The rally featured a cultural programme, weapon display and an impressive Pipe Band performance, adding to the occasion’s spirit of camaraderie and celebration.
The initiative strengthened the bond between serving personnel, veterans and their families while reaffirming the Indian Army’s institutional commitment to the welfare and dignity of those who have served the nation.
The successful conduct of the rally reflected the enduring Army ethos — “Once a Soldier, Always a Soldier” — underscoring that the service, courage and sacrifices of veterans remain an integral part of the Indian Army’s legacy.
