The Indian Navy’s three-masted sail training ship INS Sudarshini has departed Salalah, Oman, following a four-day port visit from October 14 to 17, 2026, as it continues its historic transoceanic deployment under Lokayan-2026.
The voyage underscores the Indian Navy’s rich maritime heritage and its commitment to developing professional seamanship, resilience and leadership among naval trainees through extended deployments across international waters.
During the port call, professional interactions and sporting engagements between personnel of the Indian Navy and the Royal Navy of Oman fostered camaraderie and strengthened mutual understanding. The engagements further reinforced the longstanding bonds of friendship and maritime cooperation between the two countries.
As Lokayan-2026 enters its tenth month, INS Sudarshini continues to serve as a floating ambassador of India, carrying the country’s maritime traditions and strengthening goodwill with partner nations through naval diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges.
The deployment reflects the Indian Navy’s enduring spirit of exploration, operational professionalism and commitment to fostering maritime partnerships across the globe. By navigating international waters and engaging with friendly foreign navies, the ship is helping deepen mutual trust and promote cooperation in the maritime domain.
The voyage also embodies the Indian civilisational ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family — while advancing India’s vision of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions).
Through Lokayan-2026, INS Sudarshini continues to showcase India’s maritime legacy and its commitment to a co-operative, secure and inclusive maritime environment.
