India will host the 5th Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) in New Delhi in February 2027, coinciding with the Swarnim Jayanti celebrations of the Bharatiya Tatrakshak. The Summit is expected to provide a key platform for strengthening international cooperation among maritime agencies and advancing collective efforts towards a safe, secure and resilient maritime domain.
As part of preparations for the Summit, the Bharatiya Tatrakshak hosted the Working Level Meeting (WLM) of the 5th CGGS in hybrid mode. The meeting brought together participating maritime agencies to deliberate on institutional and organisational arrangements for the forthcoming Summit.
Discussions focused on refining the CGGS Meeting Guidelines, strengthening mechanisms for information sharing and further developing and managing the official CGGS website. The participating agencies also explored measures to enhance collective capability building through greater exchange of professional expertise, operational experiences and best practices.
The Working Level Meeting also reviewed the proposed Activity Calendar for future collaborative engagements. The planned activities are aimed at sustaining cooperation among participating agencies and strengthening maritime partnerships through regular professional interaction and coordinated initiatives.
The 5th CGGS assumes particular significance as India seeks to advance its vision of MAHASAGAR—Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions—and promote a collaborative, inclusive and forward-looking maritime order.
The Summit will provide an opportunity for maritime agencies from across the world to strengthen cooperation, share operational knowledge and develop coordinated approaches to emerging challenges confronting the global maritime commons.
