The 11th edition of the India–Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise GARUDA SHAKTI commenced in Banyuwangi, Indonesia, on October 27 and will continue until November 6.
The Indian contingent comprises troops from the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), while Indonesia is represented by personnel from its Special Forces.
The exercise aims to enhance mutual understanding, operational coordination and interoperability between the Special Forces of the two countries. Training will focus on jungle warfare and special operations, including obstacle crossing, combat marksmanship, mountaineering, air assault drills and combat-hardening sessions.
The programme also includes the exchange of expertise on weapons, equipment and operational procedures. It will conclude with a validation exercise simulating realistic operational scenarios to assess the troops’ endurance, coordination and combat readiness.
GARUDA SHAKTI underscores the commitment of India and Indonesia to strengthening defence cooperation and deepening bilateral ties through joint military training.
