Marking a significant milestone in strengthening India’s maritime security and advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) commissioned its indigenously built Fast Patrol Vessel, ICGS Ajit, at Goa Shipyard Limited on 09 October 2026. The commissioning ceremony was presided over by Dr. Sirish Choudhary, IDAS, Principal Integrated Financial Advisor (ICG).

Based at Okha, ICGS Ajit is a state-of-the-art vessel equipped with advanced weaponry and modern control systems. Designed to undertake a wide range of critical operational missions, including maritime surveillance, search and rescue (SAR), anti-smuggling operations, and marine pollution response, the vessel will significantly enhance the Indian Coast Guard’s operational capabilities.

The commissioning of ICGS Ajit underscores India’s growing indigenous defence shipbuilding prowess, reinforces the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in defence manufacturing, and further strengthens coastal security and maritime law enforcement.
