The 55th High Command Course of the Army War College (AWC), Mhow, comprising 100 course participants, faculty members and the Commander, Higher Command Wing, visited NITI Aayog as part of its professional military education programme.

The delegation interacted with Ms Nidhi Chibber, Director General, Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO), NITI Aayog, and senior Advisors, gaining insights into India’s governance framework, policymaking processes, key Central Government schemes and major development initiatives.

The discussions also covered broader dimensions of national security and strategic affairs, providing the participating officers with a perspective on the linkages between national development, governance and security.

The engagement is significant from the perspective of higher military education, as senior Army officers are increasingly required to assess security challenges within the wider national strategic framework. Exposure to economic, developmental and governance issues enables commanders to develop a comprehensive understanding of the factors contributing to national power and resilience.

The Army War College, Mhow, is a premier Indian Army institution for higher military education and professional development. It conducts advanced courses for officers preparing for higher command and staff appointments, with emphasis on operational art, strategic thinking, leadership and contemporary security challenges. The High Command Course is aimed at equipping officers with the intellectual and professional tools required to operate at higher levels of command and decision-making.

The interaction with NITI Aayog forms part of this broader effort to expose senior military leadership to institutions and stakeholders shaping national policy and strategic priorities.

NITI Aayog reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration and knowledge exchange with India’s defence institutions, contributing to a broader whole-of-government approach towards national security and the vision of Viksit Bharat.
