Prime Minister Narendra Modi extends greetings to the people of Sikkim on their Statehood Day.
He extended greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of the State’s Statehood Day, marking a historic milestone as Sikkim celebrates its 50th Statehood Day this year. Shri Modi remarked that the contribution of Sikkim to India’s development journey is deeply valued and appreciated. Recalling his recent visit to Sikkim during the 50th Statehood Day celebrations, the Prime Minister said that he was deeply touched by the warmth and affection shown by the people of the State.

Governor of Sikkim Om Prakash Mathur today welcomed Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan at Lok Bhavan during his one-day visit to attend the 51st Statehood Day celebrations of Sikkim as Chief Guest.
A special luncheon was hosted at Lok Bhavan in the presence of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Smt. Krishna Rai, Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs and senior officials.
The Vice-President also attended the main programme at Manan Kendra and visited the Orchidarium in Gangtok.

Celebrated on May 16, Sikkim Statehood Day marks its historic 1975 integration as India’s 22nd state.
