    Sikkim celebrates 51st Statehood Day today

May Sikkim continue to scale new heights of prosperity, glory and sustainable progress in the years ahead.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi extends greetings to the people of Sikkim on their Statehood Day.

    He extended greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of the State’s Statehood Day, marking a historic milestone as Sikkim celebrates its 50th Statehood Day this year. Shri Modi remarked that the contribution of Sikkim to India’s development journey is deeply valued and appreciated. Recalling his recent visit to Sikkim during the 50th Statehood Day celebrations, the Prime Minister said that he was deeply touched by the warmth and affection shown by the people of the State.

    Narendra Modi posted on X:

    “Greetings to my sisters and brothers on their Statehood Day. The contribution of Sikkim to India’s development is deeply valued. Wishing the people of the state good health and prosperity.This occasion comes at a time when Sikkim is marking 50th Statehood Day celebrations. A few days ago, I had the good fortune of being among the people of Sikkim for the celebrations. The warmth I received in Sikkim will remain a part of my memory. The Central Government will keep supporting Sikkim’s growth trajectory in the times to come.”

    “Warm greetings to the sisters and brothers of Sikkim on the occasion of Statehood Day.”- Governor of West Bengal, Shri R.N.Ravi said.

    Governor of Sikkim Om Prakash Mathur today welcomed Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan at Lok Bhavan during his one-day visit to attend the 51st Statehood Day celebrations of Sikkim as Chief Guest.
    A special luncheon was hosted at Lok Bhavan in the presence of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Smt. Krishna Rai, Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs and senior officials.
    The Vice-President also attended the main programme at Manan Kendra and visited the Orchidarium in Gangtok.

    General  VMB Krishnan, Army Commander Eastern Command  extends greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of its 51st Sikkim Statehood Day. “May this occasion bring peace and happiness amongst all.”

    Celebrated on May 16, Sikkim Statehood Day marks its historic 1975 integration as India’s 22nd state. The 2026 observance is highly significant as the state celebrates over five decades of democratic governance, honoring the special protections under Article 371F and its globally recognized achievements in sustainable development.
