The Indian Air Force’s No. 14 Squadron, famously known as the ‘Bulls’, marked its Platinum Jubilee at a forward base under the Western Air Command, celebrating 75 years of service marked by courage, operational excellence and unwavering commitment to the nation.
Raised in 1951, the squadron has witnessed and shaped the evolution of Indian military aviation across four generations of fighter aircraft. From the legendary Spitfire to the formidable Jaguar Deep Penetration Strike Aircraft, the ‘Bulls’ have carried forward a proud legacy of operational service and valour.
The Platinum Jubilee celebrations paid tribute to the squadron’s distinguished history and the supreme sacrifice of its fallen Air Warriors. Flying operations and combat equipment were showcased during the commemorative event, offering a glimpse into the squadron’s operational heritage and present-day capabilities.
The occasion also brought together generations of serving and retired Air Warriors who have been associated with the squadron, providing an opportunity to honour its shared legacy and the contributions of those who served before them.
The celebrations were graced by Air Marshal George Thomas, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command, along with former Chiefs of the Air Staff, gallantry award recipients, senior serving officers and veterans of the squadron.
As the ‘Bulls’ complete 75 years, their journey from the Spitfire era to the Jaguar generation stands as a testament to the evolution of India’s air power and the enduring spirit of service, sacrifice and professionalism that has defined No. 14 Squadron across generations.
