A patriotic programme was organised on August 14 in the Mago-Chuna sector of Tawang at an altitude of approximately 14,000 feet, bringing together the local community, civil administration and armed forces in a celebration of national unity and community participation.
The event, organised by the Sub-Divisional Administration, Jang, in collaboration with the 1st Sikh LI Battalion, featured a 300-metre Tiranga Yatra, with participants carrying the national flag at the high-altitude location. The programme also included the singing of Vande Mataram, adding to the patriotic spirit of the occasion.
Pema Khanu, CM Arunachal Pradesh said- “A truly inspiring celebration of patriotism and community spirit at 14,000 feet in the majestic Mago-Chuna sector of Tawang”.

From the 300-metre Tiranga Yatra and the singing of Vande Mataram to the medical camp and planting of over 100 saplings, the event beautifully reflected the spirit of One Nation, One Spirit.”- He added.
As part of the initiative, a medical camp was conducted to provide healthcare support to the participating community. More than 100 saplings were also planted during the programme, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation alongside civic and national responsibility.
The event reflected the spirit of cooperation between the local population, civil administration and armed forces, while promoting patriotism, community engagement and environmental stewardship in the strategically important border region.
Held against the backdrop of the high-altitude landscape of Tawang, the Tiranga Yatra served as a symbolic celebration of national pride and unity, bringing together people from different sections of society under the national flag.
