Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the two-day international conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on September 19.
The conference, being organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on September 19 and 20, will bring together judicial representatives, environmental experts, policymakers and senior officials from India and abroad to deliberate on emerging environmental and climate challenges.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the conference at around 10 am on September 19.
The event will witness the participation of eminent Judges and judicial representatives from 17 countries, along with Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, District Court Judges, senior government officials and representatives of various environmental and judicial institutions in India.
Participants will include Secretaries of various Ministries, representatives of State Judicial Academies, State Legal Services Authorities, State Expert Appraisal Committees (SEACs), State Environment Impact Assessment Authorities (SEIAAs), State Wetland Authorities and other stakeholders.
Focus on environmental governance:
The conference is expected to provide a platform for exchanging judicial approaches, scientific knowledge, environmental governance practices and institutional experiences across different jurisdictions.
Deliberations will focus on critical environmental and climate-related challenges, including gaps in policy formulation, implementation and enforcement.
The conference will also explore ways to strengthen environmental governance, improve institutional cooperation and develop more effective approaches to addressing emerging climate and environmental concerns.
With participation spanning the judiciary, government, scientific and environmental institutions, the conference is aimed at facilitating greater cross-border dialogue and cooperation on environmental governance and climate-related issues.
