The Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), conducted a series of community, healthcare and youth-focused initiatives across Manipur, reinforcing its engagement with local communities.
At Joupi in Chandel district, the force observed Hindi Diwas 2026 as part of Hindi Pakhwada from September 14 to 28. A Hindi language competition involving 32 personnel was organised to promote linguistic awareness, communication and national integration among personnel from diverse backgrounds.
In Kwatha village, Tengnoupal district, a medical camp provided healthcare assistance to 110 villagers, including around 50 children, 35 women and 25 men. Medical consultations, basic treatment and guidance on hygiene, nutrition and preventive healthcare were provided, while the outreach also strengthened interaction between the force and residents.
At New Keithalmanbi Garrison, the ten-day CATC-136 for 198 cadets of the 65 NCC Girls Battalion, Manipur, concluded on September 18. The camp included physical fitness, drill, tactical training, map reading, .22 rifle firing and fieldcraft sessions, along with cultural and sporting activities designed to develop discipline, leadership and teamwork.
Meanwhile, the Shangshak Battalion organised “A Day with Company Commander” at Poi village, Ukhrul district, for 30 students from KGB School and Baptist School. The programme included an introduction to the Assam Rifles, interaction with soldiers, a static display of weapons and equipment, and career guidance on opportunities in the Armed Forces.
The battalion also provided emergency medical assistance to a 37-year-old civilian at Shangshak village on September 17. The injured man received wound management, dressing, suturing and medication at the Unit Hospital.
The initiatives collectively highlight the Assam Rifles’ continued focus on healthcare outreach, youth engagement, training support and humanitarian assistance alongside its security responsibilities in Manipur’s remote and border areas.
