The Indian Coast Guard successfully undertook a critical medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) operation yesterday , rescuing a 39-year-old Indian national from the Liberia-flagged merchant vessel MV MSC Diya F off the coast of Paradip.

The mariner reportedly developed symptoms indicative of cardiac arrest while the vessel was transiting towards Colombo. On receipt of the distress information, the Indian Coast Guard swiftly mobilised assets and launched a coordinated response to render immediate assistance.

Despite adverse sea conditions, the Coast Guard team executed the evacuation with precision and professionalism, safely transferring the patient ashore for urgent medical treatment.

The successful operation underscores the Indian Coast Guard’s high state of operational readiness and its unwavering commitment to safeguarding human life at sea. Through prompt response, maritime vigilance and humanitarian assistance, the service continues to uphold its motto of ensuring safety and security across India’s maritime domain.
