The Indian Coast Guard Region (North East), Kolkata, conducted the District/Station Commanders’ and Works Conference at the Regional Headquarters, Kolkata, on 09–10 July 2026 under the chairmanship of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (North East). The conference was attended by District and Station Commanders, senior officers from the Regional Headquarters, Works Officers, representatives of the Military Engineer Services (MES), Defence Estates Office (DEO), and officers from subordinate units.
The two-day conference reviewed the Region’s operational, administrative and infrastructure-related activities, with detailed deliberations on operational preparedness, maritime and coastal security, surveillance, search and rescue (SAR), pollution response, inter-agency coordination, training, logistics, personnel welfare and resource management.
The Works Conference assessed the progress of ongoing infrastructure and maintenance projects, budget utilisation, planning and execution of future works, and measures to ensure the timely completion of projects while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Special emphasis was placed on adopting green building initiatives to improve energy efficiency and promote sustainable infrastructure development.
Addressing the participants, the Commander, Coast Guard Region (North East), emphasised the need to maintain the highest standards of operational readiness and professionalism to effectively address emerging maritime security challenges. He highlighted the importance of enhanced coordination among Coast Guard formations and stakeholder agencies, fostering innovation, and ensuring the timely implementation of developmental initiatives to strengthen operational capability.
The conference also served as a platform to share best practices, review lessons learnt from recent operations and exercises, identify areas requiring improvement, and finalise the operational roadmap for the forthcoming cycle.
The conference concluded with a reaffirmation of the Indian Coast Guard’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests and ensuring maritime safety and security through sustained operational excellence, robust infrastructure, and close coordination with all maritime stakeholders.
