Marking the 94th Anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and commemorating the valour and sacrifice of the heroes of the Kargil War, the IAF is undertaking a historic cycling expedition from Kanyakumari to Kargil in three phases.
The third and concluding phase, from the National War Memorial in New Delhi to the Kargil War Memorial, is currently underway. On the sixth day of the expedition, the contingent has reached Jammu, continuing its onward movement towards Kargil.
The riders began the day’s journey from Pathankot at 0700 hours, cycling towards Jammu before continuing their advance towards the Kargil War Memorial. Negotiating challenging terrain and en-route conditions, the contingent has maintained its determined progress towards the final destination.
The expedition is being conducted as a tribute to the bravehearts of the Kargil War, whose courage and supreme sacrifice played a defining role in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
As the riders traverse the challenging route towards Kargil, the expedition seeks to honour the enduring legacy of the fallen soldiers and reaffirm the values of courage, sacrifice, duty and service that continue to inspire the Indian armed forces.
The concluding leg will culminate at the Kargil War Memorial, where the expedition will pay homage to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation.
