A total of 231 local runners participated in the first Pallel Physical Training 10 KM Run, organised by Assam Rifles in collaboration with Pallel Physical Training Centre, REACHA and IIFL Foundation at Pallel Garrison in Manipur’s Kakching district on Sunday.

The event was aimed at promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship and constructive engagement among local youth. It brought together runners, civil representatives and Assam Rifles personnel in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and healthy competition.
Flagged off by Assam Rifles officials, the 10-kilometre run provided local athletes an opportunity to showcase their endurance, discipline and competitive spirit.

Organisers made arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the event and the safety of participants. A team of 12 coordinators managed the route, while hydration points were set up at strategic locations along the course.

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony honouring the top three finishers. The winner received a cash prize of ₹10,000, while the second- and third-place finishers were awarded ₹7,000 and ₹5,000, respectively. All three podium finishers were also presented with medals and certificates.
Beyond the sporting competition, the initiative sought to strengthen interaction between Assam Rifles and the local community. Organisers said the event encouraged young people to embrace fitness, discipline, teamwork and constructive participation in community activities.

The successful conduct of the run highlighted the role of sporting initiatives in bringing local communities together while encouraging youth to adopt healthier and more disciplined lifestyles.
