Security forces carried out a comprehensive mock drill at the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra Base Camp in Jammu on Tuesday as part of extensive preparations to ensure the safe and secure conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
The exercise witnessed the coordinated participation of personnel from the (NSG), (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the (CRPF). The teams jointly executed a combing and sanitisation operation across the base camp area to validate security protocols and response mechanisms.
The drill was designed to evaluate operational readiness, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and test the effectiveness of contingency plans against potential security threats. Security personnel rehearsed standard operating procedures for area domination, threat neutralisation, and emergency response under simulated conditions.
Officials said the exercise forms part of a broader security framework being implemented for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, with a focus on maintaining a robust security grid and ensuring the safety of pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage period.
The joint drill underscored the preparedness of security agencies to respond swiftly and effectively to any emerging challenge, reinforcing confidence in the multi-layered security arrangements planned for the yatra.
