Hattigor Military Station marked the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) today with great enthusiasm, reaffirming the Indian Army’s commitment to physical fitness, mental resilience, and holistic well-being. More than 500 Army personnel participated in the event, reflecting the growing recognition of Yoga as an integral component of military preparedness and healthy living.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of lush tea gardens and verdant landscapes, the yoga session was conducted in an atmosphere of serenity and natural beauty. The tranquil surroundings provided an ideal setting for the observance, underscoring the enduring relationship between nature, wellness, and inner harmony.
The programme commenced with a brief address highlighting the theme of IDY 2026, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The address emphasized the significance of Yoga in maintaining physical vitality, emotional stability, and mental robustness throughout all stages of life. Participants were encouraged to embrace Yoga as a lifelong practice that enhances personal well-being while contributing to operational effectiveness and combat readiness.
Under the guidance of qualified instructors, personnel performed the Common Yoga Protocol comprising a series of stretching exercises, standing and balancing postures, pranayama techniques, and meditation practices.
