Air Vice Marshal Sarabjit Singh, VSM assumed charge as Commandant of Software Development Institute (SDI), Air Force, Bengaluru. The Air Officer was commissioned in Aeronautical Engineering branch of the Indian Air Force in October 1992. A Post Graduate in Computer Science, Defence Studies and Management, he is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad.

He took over command of the prestigious institution from Air Vice Marshal Raman Guruhari, VSM, who retired from the Indian Air Force on 30 April 2026, after a distinguished career spanning over three decades. During his tenure, the officer made immense contributions to various indigenisation projects and network centric operations initiatives of Indian Air Force. He was instrumental in forging multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with ADA, IITM and IIIT Bangalore, significantly strengthening collaboration between the IAF, academia and industry.

This transition at SDI will ensure that the Indian Air Force continues emphasis on indigenisation, technological advancement, network centric capabilities and robust software-driven solutions aligned with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
