Indian Army and Assam Rifles formations under Spear Corps, in close coordination with Manipur Police and Central Armed Police Forces, conducted a series of intelligence-based joint operations across Kangpokpi, Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Kakching districts recently. The operations resulted in the apprehension of six insurgent cadres affiliated with various proscribed outfits and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, explosives and other war-like stores.

Based on Intelligence inputs, Assam Rifles, in conjunction with Manipur Police and a CRPF Battalion, carried out coordinated search operations in the general areas of Loiching Ridge, Maohing and North Changoubung in Kangpokpi district. The operations led to the recovery of a major cache comprising two rifles, one carbine machine gun, one additional rifle, 42 country-made rifles, multiple pistols, improvised mortars, pumpis and one under-barrel grenade launcher (UBGL). Security forces also recovered multiple hand grenades, over 250 rounds of ammunition, explosives and communication equipment.

In separate intelligence-led operations across Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Kakching districts, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police apprehended six active cadres belonging to the proscribed outfits SOREPA, KCP(N), KYKL and RPF (PLA), including a self-styled Captain. The operations also resulted in the recovery of one pistol, 97 rounds of mixed ammunition, gunpowder and one unregistered vehicle.

The apprehended cadres and recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation and legal proceedings. The successful operations underscore the continued synergy among the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police and Central Armed Police Forces in maintaining security and countering insurgent activities in the region.
