As part of the commemorations of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Forever in Operations Division Mountain Terrain Bicycle Expedition 2026 continues to inspire communities across Ladakh while paying tribute to the valour and sacrifice of the heroes of the Kargil War.
Flagged off from the Rezang La War Memorial on 10 June 2026, the expedition commenced its challenging journey through the rugged and demanding terrain of Ladakh. On 18 June, the team continued its onward movement from the Hall of Fame, Leh towards Kargil and Drass, retracing routes that stand as enduring symbols of courage, determination and national pride.
Covering more than 250 kilometres through high-altitude mountain passes and challenging landscapes, the expedition has successfully combined physical endurance with a meaningful outreach mission. Along its route, the team has conducted 11 outreach activities, engaging with over 1,000 students, NCC cadets and youth from local communities.
Through interactive sessions and motivational engagements, participants were acquainted with the inspiring stories of the Bravehearts of Kargil, fostering a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made in defence of the nation. The initiative has served as a platform to instil values of patriotism, duty, resilience and nation-building among the younger generation.
The Mountain Terrain Bicycle Expedition embodies the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to honouring the legacy of its fallen heroes while strengthening bonds with the youth and local communities. As the expedition progresses towards Kargil and Drass, it continues to carry forward the spirit of Kargil Vijay Diwas, inspiring citizens to uphold the ideals of service, sacrifice and unwavering dedication to the nation.
