As part of World Bicycle Day, a special cycling event is set to be organized on June 7 at Kolkata’s very own  Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Salt Lake under the initiative of the state’s Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. The details of the program were announced today at a press conference by the State Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Nishith Pramanik.

The meeting was attended by several sports administration officials, including Shibananda Mishra, the Regional Director of the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

The main objective of the event is to highlight the importance of cycling among the general public, encourage eco-friendly transportation, and spread the message of a healthy lifestyle.

The Minister said that in the present context of pollution and various lifestyle-related health issues, cycling is an effective and environmentally friendly mode of transport. He urged the youth to get more involved in cycling and invited people of all age groups to participate in the event.

This special program, organized under the “Sundays on Cycle” initiative, is expected to see wide participation from athletes, cycling enthusiasts, and the general public. Through this celebration of World Bicycle Day, the aim is to further promote health awareness and spread the message of the Fit India movement.

The organizers believe that this program is not just a cycling event, but an important step toward building a healthier, more active, and environmentally friendly society.
