Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders Through Employment and Skill Development:
In a landmark initiative jointly undertaken by the West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate NCC and Rakshak Foundation, 220 NCC cadets were successfully provided with meaningful employment opportunities in a reputed corporate organization. Among them, 83 Senior Wing (SW) cadets secured avenues for professional growth and career advancement.
The Rakshak Foundation played a pivotal role in the execution of the programme through a transparent and efficient recruitment process, comprehensive candidate briefings, and meticulous documentation support. The successful onboarding of selected cadets is set to commence immediately. This pioneering endeavour marks a significant milestone in bridging the gap between youth development and employability, laying a strong foundation for future skilling and employment initiatives for NCC cadets.
Annual Inspection of Darjeeling & Sikkim Group Headquarters:
As part of the Annual Inspection Programme, the Additional Director General (ADG), West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate NCC, visited Group Headquarters Darjeeling & Sikkim on 01 June 2026. Upon arrival, the General Officer was introduced to officers serving in the NCC units under the Group and was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the motivated cadets of 56 Bengal Battalion NCC.
During the visit, the Group Commander and Deputy Group Commander presented a comprehensive briefing covering training activities, administrative aspects, infrastructure development, and upcoming training commitments. The ADG appreciated the visible efforts undertaken by the Group Headquarters towards infrastructure enhancement and overall improvement of habitat and office facilities.
Addressing the officers, the General Officer emphasized the importance of professional pride, commitment to duty, and the maintenance of high standards across all projects. He further stressed the need for continuous enhancement of training infrastructure within units and command institutions to ensure effective cadet development.
ANO & CTO Conclave Strengthens Institutional Synergy:
An inspiring Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) and Caretaker Officers (CTOs) Conclave was conducted in Sikkim under the aegis of the West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate NCC. The conclave focused on strengthening institutional coordination, enhancing training effectiveness, and fostering youth development through collaborative efforts between educational institutions and NCC units.
Inauguration of Drone Training Cell at 1 Sikkim Battalion NCC
Continuing his visit, the ADG proceeded to 1 Sikkim Battalion NCC at Gangtok, where he was accorded a Guard of Honour by the cadets. The General Officer inaugurated a state-of-the-art Drone Training Cell, reflecting the Directorate’s commitment towards integrating emerging technologies into cadet training.
During his interaction with cadets, ANOs, and staff, the ADG commended the Battalion’s progressive outlook and modern infrastructure. He encouraged all ranks to continue contributing towards nation-building through discipline, innovation, and dedicated service.
Building a Tobacco-Free Future with NCC Cadets:
Demonstrating their commitment to social responsibility, NCC cadets of Surendranath College (2 Bengal Battalion NCC) organized an impactful awareness rally on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day under the aegis of the West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate NCC.
The cadets marched through the vicinity of Sealdah Railway Station, spreading awareness regarding the harmful effects of tobacco consumption. Through direct interaction with local shopkeepers and members of the public, they advocated responsible practices and encouraged collective efforts towards creating a tobacco-free society.
The campaign featured awareness speeches, Nukkad Natak performances, informative posters, placards, and motivational songs, effectively engaging the public and amplifying the message of health and well-being. The initiative inspired both students and citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles while reinforcing the NCC’s role as an agent of positive social transformation.
