In an innovative initiative to raise awareness against substance abuse and encourage youth participation in the fight against drug addiction, the 47 Assam Remount and Veterinary (R&V) Squadron of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Guwahati, organised a horse-mounted awareness rally under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at Khanapara on October 16.

The rally featured NCC cadets from the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, riding horses to draw public attention to the dangers of substance abuse and spread the message of a healthy, drug-free society.

A total of 50 NCC cadets participated in the campaign with enthusiasm, demonstrating their commitment to social responsibility and community outreach. The distinctive mounted procession provided an effective platform to engage the public and encourage collective action against drug addiction.

As part of the initiative, the participating cadets pledged to stay away from substance abuse, spread awareness among their peers and communities, and discourage others from falling prey to drug addiction. The campaign also highlighted the role of young people in promoting healthy lifestyles and building a society free from the harmful effects of narcotic substances.

Beyond raising awareness, the initiative reinforced the NCC’s core values of discipline, leadership, service and responsible citizenship. By taking its message directly to the community, the riding unit sought to encourage greater public participation in efforts to prevent substance abuse, particularly among young people.

The rally concluded successfully, receiving an encouraging response and reaffirming the commitment of the 47 Assam R&V Squadron NCC to the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

With the message, “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life,” the initiative called upon young people to become ambassadors of a healthier, safer and drug-free India.
