Major General APS Chahal, The Additional Director General (ADG) of the NCC West Bengal and Sikkim Directorate, accompanied by Brig Vivek Malik, Group Commander of the Darjeeling and Sikkim Group, called on Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur at Lok Bhavan and briefed him on the various activities being undertaken by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in the state.
During the meeting, the ADG expressed gratitude to the Governor for his continued encouragement and support towards the NCC and for backing the organisation’s expansion in the strategically important border state.
The interaction focused on strengthening the NCC’s presence in Sikkim and enhancing opportunities for youth participation through its training and development programmes.

NCC’s Contribution in Sikkim:
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has played a significant role in shaping the youth of Sikkim by promoting discipline, leadership, patriotism and community service. Through institutional training, adventure activities, social awareness campaigns and disaster relief initiatives, the NCC has encouraged young people to become responsible citizens. Cadets from Sikkim have actively participated in national camps, Republic Day Camp, trekking expeditions and cultural exchange programmes, showcasing the state’s talent at the national level. The organisation has also expanded its presence in the border state, creating more opportunities for youth participation while strengthening national integration and contributing to nation-building.
The NCC reaffirmed its commitment to nation-building, youth empowerment and promoting national integration through its activities across the state.
