Mirabai Chanu clinched the silver medal at the Asian Games 2026, improving on her fourth-place finish from the previous edition and adding another major international medal to her illustrious career.
With this achievement, Chanu becomes only the second Indian weightlifter after Karnam Malleswari to win medals across all six major international weightlifting events — the Olympic Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, Asian Championships and Commonwealth Championships.
The silver in Aichi-Nagoya further underlines Chanu’s remarkable consistency on the global stage and adds another milestone to Indian weightlifting history.
