    Lt Gen Gambhir Singh Assumes Charge as Chief of Staff, Headquarters Eastern Command

    Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh has assumed the appointment of Chief of Staff (COS), Headquarters Eastern Command, succeeding Lieutenant General Mohit Malhotra, who has been approved to take over as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Command.

    On handing over the appointment, Lt Gen Mohit Malhotra expressed confidence in the leadership of his successor and exhorted all ranks to remain steadfast in their commitment towards enhancing operational effectiveness, organisational excellence and combat readiness. He also urged personnel to uphold the rich traditions, core values and professional ethos of the Indian Army while continuing to meet emerging security challenges with dedication and resolve.

    During the change of command, Lieutenant General V.M.B. Krishnan, Army Commander, Eastern Command, congratulated Lt Gen Gambhir Singh on assuming the key appointment and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure. He expressed confidence that Lt Gen Gambhir Singh’s extensive operational experience and distinguished military career would further strengthen the operational capabilities and institutional excellence of Eastern Command.

    Lt Gen V.M.B. Krishnan also conveyed his appreciation to Lt Gen Mohit Malhotra for his exemplary service and significant contributions during his tenure as Chief of Staff, Headquarters Eastern Command. Acknowledging his leadership and commitment, the Army Commander wished him success as he prepares to assume command of the strategically important South Western Command.

    The transition marks a significant leadership change within the Indian Army, reflecting the organisation’s continued emphasis on operational preparedness, professional excellence and seamless command succession across its formations.
