Indian Navy guided-missile destroyer INS Mysore has arrived at Lumut, Malaysia, to participate in the fourth edition of the bilateral maritime exercise Samudra Laksamana with the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN).
The warship arrived at Lumut on September 9 as part of the Indian Navy’s ongoing operational deployment. The crew was received by personnel of the Royal Malaysian Navy and officials from the High Commission of India in Malaysia.
The exercise will feature a series of professional engagements both ashore and at sea, including cross-deck visits, operational interactions and sporting activities. The engagements are aimed at enhancing interoperability, facilitating the exchange of operational experience and strengthening mutual understanding between the two navies.
The latest edition of Samudra Laksamana builds on sustained maritime cooperation between India and Malaysia, including the 12th India–Malaysia Sub Committee Meeting, held on July 1, 2026.
The deployment of INS Mysore underscores the growing scope of India–Malaysia naval cooperation and the two countries’ commitment to strengthening professional exchanges and maritime security cooperation in the region.
The engagement is also aligned with India’s MAHASAGAR vision and the ASEAN–India Year of Maritime Cooperation 2026, reflecting New Delhi’s continued emphasis on deeper maritime partnerships with ASEAN countries.
