The Trishul Division of the Fire and Fury Corps organised a mini marathon in Karu, Ladakh, with 443 local schoolchildren taking part in the event aimed at promoting fitness and environmental awareness.

The participants competed in two age categories—10-13 years and 14-17 years—in an initiative designed to encourage physical fitness, discipline, endurance and teamwork among young people.

The event also focused on raising awareness about the need to protect Ladakh’s fragile high-altitude environment. Organisers said the programme sought to sensitise students to environmental responsibility while encouraging healthy and active lifestyles.

The initiative formed part of the Indian Army’s youth-oriented community engagement activities in Ladakh, with an emphasis on strengthening interaction with local communities and promoting environmental consciousness.

Officials said such programmes provide young participants with opportunities to develop sporting values, teamwork and a sense of responsibility towards their surroundings while contributing to broader community-building efforts in the region.
