The Spearhead Division of the Spear Corps commemorated World Environment Day through a series of community-centric environmental initiatives across Tuting, Boraroopak and Sigar, reinforcing its commitment to ecological conservation and sustainable development.
The activities witnessed active participation from students, teachers, troops and local residents. Tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns and poster-making competitions were organised to promote environmental awareness and responsible stewardship of natural resources.
At Tuting, Army personnel joined schoolchildren and teachers in plantation and cleanliness drives, while students participated in a poster-making competition focused on sustainability and environmental protection. Troops at Boraroopak undertook a large-scale plantation drive to enhance green cover, with similar initiatives conducted at Sigar.
The events highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, community participation and collective responsibility in preserving Arunachal Pradesh’s rich ecological heritage. The initiative also strengthened civil-military ties, reflecting the Indian Army’s continued commitment to nation-building, community engagement and environmental sustainability.
