The Indian Army has launched an introductory tennis training programme for students in Aalo town in Arunachal Pradesh, aimed at promoting sporting talent, fitness and healthy lifestyles among youth in the remote frontier region.

The initiative was conducted by the Spearhead Division under the aegis of Spear Corps at Aalo Military Station, with 50 students and two teachers participating in the orientation programme.

The students were introduced to the fundamentals of tennis, including the history of the sport, rules, scoring system, court etiquette and basic playing techniques. The programme featured interactive demonstrations, motivational videos and practical sessions on the court, providing participants with hands-on exposure to the game.

The orientation also highlighted the importance of discipline, perseverance, focus and sportsmanship, values associated with competitive sports and personal development.

The initiative aims to provide greater sporting opportunities to young people in a region where access to specialised sports infrastructure remains limited. By allowing local students to use the tennis facilities at Aalo Military Station, the Indian Army has created a platform for them to learn and develop their skills under expert guidance.

As part of the programme, students will be provided a dedicated daily time slot for tennis practice, along with essential equipment and sporting accessories to support regular training and participation.

The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued efforts towards youth empowerment, promotion of sports and strengthening of military-civil cooperation in Arunachal Pradesh. Through such programmes, the Spearhead Division continues to encourage young achievers to pursue excellence through fitness, discipline and determination.
