A felicitation ceremony was organised at Udalguri to honour successful candidates selected for induction into the Indian Army under the Agnipath Scheme. The event was jointly conducted by civil society representatives in coordination with the civil administration, reflecting strong civil–military cooperation in the region.The ceremony was attended by Shri Rihon Daimari, Deputy Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), who appreciated the Army’s outreach efforts and training initiatives aimed at empowering local youth and strengthening nation-building.
As part of its recruitment outreach programme, the Indian Army conducted awareness drives across 30 schools and colleges, reaching over 2,000 students. Following a pre-recruitment rally held in November 2024, 343 candidates were shortlisted based on performance in mock assessments and subsequently trained by the Red Horns Gunners at designated centres.
Of the shortlisted candidates, 234 cleared the written examination in 2025. After further physical training and evaluation, 119 candidates qualified in the final recruitment rally conducted between February 13 and 15, 2026. Out of these, 50 candidates have received their joining letters for induction into the Indian Army.
The initiative highlights the Army’s sustained efforts to engage with youth in the Bodoland region through structured training, awareness campaigns, and capacity-building programmes aimed at encouraging participation in the armed forces.
Officials noted that such initiatives, conducted in collaboration with civil administration, also include sports promotion, skill development, and environmental awareness drives, contributing to broader community development and youth empowerment.
