Demonstrating its rapid humanitarian response capability, the Indian Air Force (IAF) launched a helicopter mission to support flood relief operations in the remote Pitapool area of Arunachal Pradesh, overcoming adverse weather conditions and difficult mountainous terrain.
Operating in challenging flying conditions, the IAF successfully airlifted approximately 350 kilograms of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) relief material, including a rescue boat, while simultaneously inducting NDRF personnel into the affected area.
The air mission was undertaken to strengthen ongoing flood relief efforts and enhance the local administration’s ability to respond swiftly to the needs of communities cut off by severe weather and rising floodwaters.
The timely deployment ensured that critical rescue equipment and trained disaster response teams reached the affected region despite limited ground accessibility, enabling rescue and relief operations to commence without delay.
The operation highlights the Indian Air Force’s vital role in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions, where its airlift capability provides a crucial lifeline to remote and inaccessible regions during natural disasters.
Working in close coordination with the National Disaster Response Force and civil authorities, the IAF continues to play a key role in augmenting disaster response efforts, reaffirming its commitment to providing rapid assistance during emergencies and safeguarding lives in disaster-affected areas across the country.
