    General Ram Chander Tiwari Relinquishes Command of Eastern Command

    Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, relinquished command of the Eastern Command upon superannuation, after a illustrious military career spanning nearly four decades of distinguished service to the Nation.

    During his tenure as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, he was instrumental in providing visionary leadership and strategic direction in one of the most sensitive and operationally active theatres of the country. Under his stewardship, the Command witnessed significant enhancement in operational preparedness, capability development, and force modernisation, ensuring a robust and responsive posture along the Eastern frontiers.

    The General Officer played a pivotal role in strengthening border management mechanisms and fostering seamless coordination with sister services and civil administration. His tenure was marked by a calibrated approach towards maintaining peace and stability in the North Eastern region, with sustained focus on counter-insurgency operations, capacity building of security forces, and outreach initiatives aimed at reinforcing trust and cooperation with local communities.

    As Army Commander he laid special emphasis on technology infusion, modernization and capability development, driving key initiatives towards digital transformation and integration of modern systems within the Command. His focus on innovation and adaptability significantly enhanced situational awareness, operational efficiency, and decision-making processes.

    A strong proponent of jointness and synergy, he actively promoted inter-agency synergy, ensuring cohesive functioning among military, paramilitary, and civil stakeholders. He guided and oversaw the successful execution of numerous training exercises, infrastructure development projects, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations across the region.

    The General Officer remained deeply committed to the welfare and morale of troops, fostering a culture of professionalism, inclusivity, and excellence across all ranks. His emphasis on leadership development and organisational ethos further strengthened the combat effectiveness of Eastern Command.

    On relinquishing command, Lt Gen Ram Chander Tiwari expressed his appreciation to all ranks of the Eastern Command for their unwavering dedication, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to duty under challenging conditions.
