In a significant step towards strengthening civil-military engagement and promoting national development, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Gajraj Corps, accompanied by a team of officers, interacted with the Vice Chancellor and distinguished faculty members of a premier educational institution in Assam .
The interaction brought together eminent academicians from diverse disciplines and focused on enhancing collaboration between the Indian Army and academia. Discussions centred on deepening understanding of the Northeast’s rich socio-cultural landscape, fostering strategic awareness and critical thinking among students, and motivating youth, particularly young women, to explore meaningful career opportunities in the Armed Forces.
The deliberations also explored avenues for expanding Army–Academia–Community partnerships through experiential learning initiatives. These include educational visits to frontier areas and interactions with troops serving in challenging operational environments, providing students with valuable firsthand exposure to national security imperatives, border management challenges, and the unique socio-cultural dynamics of the region.
Reaffirming a shared commitment to nation-building, both sides underscored the importance of nurturing informed, responsible and proactive youth capable of contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The engagement highlighted the role of collaborative efforts in developing leadership qualities, broadening perspectives and encouraging greater participation of young citizens in national development under the guiding ethos of “Nation First.”
Such interactions reflect the Indian Army’s continued commitment to fostering constructive partnerships with academic institutions and empowering the next generation through knowledge, awareness and service-oriented leadership.
