The FIFA Foundation has pledged USD 1 million from its Humanitarian Fund to support emergency relief efforts for communities affected by the recent earthquake in Venezuela.

The funding will be used to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to those impacted by the disaster, supporting emergency response operations and early recovery initiatives through trusted local and international humanitarian partners.

Announcing the assistance, FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed solidarity with the people of Venezuela, highlighting football’s role in bringing communities together during times of crisis.

“The people of Venezuela have the full solidarity of the global football family during this incredibly difficult time,” Infantino said. “Football has a unique ability to unite and inspire hope, especially in moments of crisis. Through the FIFA Foundation, we are proud to stand alongside the people of Venezuela and support humanitarian organisations and local partners working tirelessly to deliver urgent assistance to those most affected.”

FIFA Foundation Executive Chairman Mauricio Macri said the organisation remains committed to providing rapid humanitarian support through its emergency funding mechanism.

“The thoughts of everyone at the FIFA Foundation are with all those who have been affected by this devastating earthquake,” Macri said. “Through our Humanitarian Fund, we are committed to supporting organisations working on the ground to provide emergency assistance and help affected communities begin the recovery process.”

The Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) has also joined relief efforts, mobilising the country’s football community to assist affected populations and support ongoing humanitarian operations.

According to FIFA, the Humanitarian Fund enables rapid mobilisation of emergency assistance in response to natural disasters and humanitarian crises. Since its establishment, the fund has provided millions of dollars in financial assistance and emergency relief supplies to communities affected by major disasters worldwide.

FIFA said further details on the implementation of the funding and the humanitarian projects to be supported will be announced once damage assessments are completed and operational arrangements with partner organisations are finalised.
