On the night of 17 May 2026, West Bengal Police conducted raids at Uttar Pratapgarh’s Fatullapur area in North 24 Parganas.
Eight Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from Nimta for allegedly entering India illegally in exchange for money and obtaining Indian identity documents, including Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and bank-related documents.
According to police, the arrests were made after officers from Nimta Police Station noticed a man moving suspiciously in the Golbagan area on last Sunday. During questioning, he allegedly revealed details about the group. Following this, police conducted a late-night raid in the Fatullapur area and arrested the eight Bangladeshi nationals along with an Indian citizen, Shahidul Islam, who was accused of providing them shelter.
The accused were scheduled to be produced before the Barrackpore court.

Police sources said the detainees admitted during interrogation that they had entered India illegally from Bangladesh after paying money to facilitators. They were allegedly staying at Shahidul Islam’s residence in Fatullapur in exchange for payment.

Authorities recovered several documents from the accused, including Indian Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, debit cards and birth certificates, all of which have been seized. Police also recovered Bangladeshi Covid vaccination certificates from them.
The arrested Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Suman Gain, Baharul Mondal, Abdul Rahman Sardar, Riaz Mondal, Ilyas Sardar, Zahara Bibi, Anowara Bibi and Sumi Bibi. Shahidul Islam was also arrested for allegedly sheltering them.
