Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today released a commemorative volume on Operation Sindoor, featuring the personal testimonies of 100 officers, sailors, airmen and soldiers who participated in the operation.

In a post on X, the Defence Minister described the publication as a tribute to the personnel who carried out the operation and highlighted its role in connecting citizens with the dedication and resilience of the armed forces. “The citizens need to draw inspiration from this book and be citizens worthy of the tremendous cost the nation pays to ensure security and maintain sovereignty,” he said.

Shri Rajnath Singh termed Operation Sindoor an unprecedented success, stating that India compelled Pakistan to seek a ceasefire within four days. He noted that the operation differed from previous wars fought by India and said the commemorative publication not only documents history but also captures the lived experiences of soldiers involved in the mission. According to him, the volume offers insight into the human dimension of modern warfare, where leadership, courage, judgment under pressure and commitment transform strategy into success. The publication intentionally moves away from the traditional framework of official military historiography. While conventional war accounts often focus on decisions taken in headquarters and operations rooms, this volume seeks to preserve the experiences of personnel directly involved in combat and operational duties.

The book includes narratives from soldiers positioned along the Line of Control targeting adversary bunkers, air defence operators monitoring and neutralising incoming drones, pilots engaged in weapon deployment, and naval personnel maintaining operational readiness as fleets moved to heightened alert.
The accounts cover all three Services, as well as Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, and feature contributions from combat aviators, naval watchkeepers, surface-to-air missile crews, special forces personnel, signallers, logisticians, medical officers and members of integrated organisations that supported the operation.

The volume was released during a ceremonial event in New Delhi attended by Chief of Defence Staff , Chief of the Naval Staff , Chief of the Army Staff , and Chief of the Air Staff .
