The Defence Accounts Department organised a nationwide Shramdaan initiative as part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2026’ campaign. Field offices across the country participated in the two-week-long Swachhata Pakhwada, planting over 25,000 trees under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.

The campaign concluded with a cleanliness drive at MCD Primary School, Bagdola, Dwarka, New Delhi. The drive was led by Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) Smt. Alka Nangia Arora, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Officers and staff of the CGDA Headquarters, along with MCD officials, actively participated in the cleanliness drive and sapling plantation activities.

As part of Special Swachhata Campaign 6.0, the CGDA Headquarters also organised a tree plantation drive on October 12, 2026. In addition, the Department initiated measures to identify physical files for weeding out, e-files for closure, and scrap materials and electronic waste for proper disposal.

These nationwide initiatives underscore the Defence Accounts Department’s continued commitment to promoting cleanliness, environmental sustainability and responsible waste management. Through collective action and Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation), the Department reaffirmed its dedication to the principles of ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ and to fostering a cleaner and greener environment.
