A delegation from the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL), led by Managing Director Shri Jitendra Kumar, was felicitated at the Headquarters of the Additional Director General Border Roads (East) in Guwahati for its valuable support during the restoration of the damaged Vikramshila Setu in Bihar.

The delegation was honoured by Shri Jitendra Prasad, VSM, Additional Director General Border Roads (East), in recognition of BRPNNL’s contribution in coordination, logistics, technical facilitation and local administration, which played a crucial role in the successful completion of the restoration mission.

Vikramshila Setu, a vital bridge connecting North and South Bihar, suffered the collapse of a suspended span on 4 May 2026, disrupting connectivity to the Seemanchal region. Following a request from the Government of Bihar, the Ministry of Defence entrusted the restoration work to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

Under the leadership of Shri Jitendra Prasad, a restoration team headed by Shri Bipin Kumar Chand, Superintending Engineer (Civil), and supervised by Brig Amit Sakhre, Chief Engineer (Project Swastik), successfully restored the bridge by launching four Bailey Bridges, reopening it to traffic on 7 June 2026.

During the ceremony, six BRPNNL officials, including Managing Director Shri Jitendra Kumar and Superintending Engineer Shri Shashi Bhushan Singh, were felicitated for their contribution. Shri Bipin Kumar Chand briefed the gathering on the engineering challenges and innovative measures adopted during the restoration.

Addressing the delegation, Shri Jitendra Prasad described the successful restoration of Vikramshila Setu as a testament to inter-agency cooperation, engineering excellence and commitment to public service, highlighting the strong partnership between BRO and the Government of Bihar in strengthening critical infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity.
