India will host the BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting and the BRICS Sports Ministers’ Meeting in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on August 22 and 23 as part of its BRICS Chairship 2026.

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will chair the ministerial meetings, with Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Smt. Raksha Khadse also participating. Ministers and heads of delegation from all 11 BRICS member countries are expected to attend the engagements.

India’s BRICS Chairship is being conducted under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, with a focus on people-centric development and stronger institutional cooperation among member nations.

The BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting on August 22 will focus on youth development and empowerment, with discussions covering education, skills, entrepreneurship, wellbeing and sustainable development. The meeting will also consider recommendations from the BRICS Youth Council Meeting and BRICS Youth Summit.

The youth ministers are expected to adopt the BRICS Youth Ministerial Joint Declaration and the BRICS Youth Cooperation Framework, outlining areas for future cooperation under successive BRICS chairships.

The BRICS Sports Ministers’ Meeting on August 23 will focus on strengthening cooperation in sports, with particular emphasis on traditional and indigenous sports, sports technology and sports manufacturing.

A key feature of the sports programme will be a Sports Manufacturing Conclave, aimed at promoting cooperation and sharing expertise in the sports manufacturing sector. Discussions will also contribute to the finalisation and adoption of the BRICS Sports Joint Declaration.

The programme will include country statements from representatives of Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. Bilateral meetings, cultural engagements and the BRICS Friendship Cycling Event are also scheduled.

The two ministerial meetings are expected to provide a platform for BRICS nations to exchange experiences and best practices while deepening cooperation in youth development and sports under India’s 2026 chairship.
