Baloch freedom fighters has released a statement expressing support for Afghanistan while criticizing Pakistan’s policies in Balochistan and Pakistan occopied Kashmir(POK). The statement, issued on June 30, includes several political and territorial claims that remain disputed and have not been independently verified.
The organization welcomed slogans reportedly raised during a protest in Pakistan occupied Kashmir stating that “Kashmir is not a part of Pakistan.” It described the demonstration as an important political development and said the people of the region should have the right to determine their own future without Pakistani control.
They also expressed support for the constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir within India, arguing that integration with India offers greater democratic and economic opportunities. These views represent the position of the issuing organization and are not internationally recognized legal conclusions.
“The Republic of Balochistan believes that Kashmir’s integration with India is a positive decision, as India is economically strong and the world’s largest democracy. It states that within India, the rights of the Kashmiri people will be protected and they will be able to build their future with dignity as a respected nation.”- Baloch Nationalist leader Mir Yar Baloch expressed his thoughts.
Comments on Afghanistan:
The statement also welcomed remarks attributed to certain Afghan political figures following Pakistan’s reported cross-border airstrikes. According to the organization, those remarks referred to the possibility of asserting control over predominantly Pashtun areas, including Peshawar.
It further praised campaigns by some Afghan commentators and social media activists calling for diplomatic measures against Pakistan, including proposals to expel Pakistan’s ambassador from Kabul and establish diplomatic representation for Balochistan in Afghanistan.
The organization said such a step would mark the beginning of formal relations between Afghanistan and what it described as a future independent Balochistan.
Position on the Durand Line:
The Republic of Balochistan reiterated its opposition to the Durand Line, the border established between British India and Afghanistan in 1893, describing it as an artificial colonial boundary.
The statement argued that Pashtun and Baloch communities share historical, cultural and linguistic ties and called for closer political cooperation between the two groups. It also alleged that Pakistan’s control over Balochistan and Pashtun-majority regions lacks legitimacy, a claim that Pakistan rejects.
Strategic Importance:
The organization described Balochistan as a strategically important region connecting South Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East. It highlighted Gwadar Port as a key infrastructure asset with significant economic and geopolitical value.
Regional Context:
The statement has renewed attention on long-running disputes involving Balochistan, Pakistan occupied Kashmir and the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
These issues remain the subject of competing historical interpretations, constitutional claims and diplomatic positions. Pakistan maintains that Balochistan is an integral part of the country and rejects separatist claims. The status of Jammu and Kashmir continues to be disputed between India and Pakistan, while differing views also persist regarding the Durand Line.
