The Baloch fighters have announced worldwide observances of August 11 as Balochistan’s Independence Day, calling on Baloch communities across the globe to mark the occasion with celebrations emphasizing national unity.
A viral post on X declared August 11 as Balochistan’s Independence Day and claimed that Baloch residents would observe the occasion later this month by raising their flag at homes, markets, and public places.
The post, shared by Mir Yar Baloch, accused Pakistan of promoting terrorism and stated that “the imposition of an artificial and terrorist state like Pakistan” had deprived the Indian subcontinent of peace, prosperity, development, and stability.
According to the announcement by Mir Yar Baloch, Baloch people have been encouraged to hoist the national flag of what the Republic of Balochistan describes as an independent Balochistan at homes, neighborhoods, markets, shops, educational institutions, and other public places. The organization also urged community members to educate younger generations about the historical significance it associates with the date.
In its statement, the Republic of Balochistan argued that the partition of the Indian subcontinent led to prolonged regional conflicts, political instability, terrorism, and economic challenges. It further claimed that the creation of Pakistan deprived several nations in the region of peace, prosperity, development, and stability.
The statement also alleged that Pakistan’s policies have had consequences beyond South Asia, affecting Western countries through terrorism and contributing to instability in the Middle East. It cited several historical events in support of its position, including the 1947 conflict over Kashmir, the military entry into Balochistan on March 27, 1948, and the reported detention of the then Khan of Kalat, Mir Ahmad Yar Khan, after what it described as a forced accession.
Additionally, the Balochistan referred to the 1971 conflict in East Pakistan, the involvement of former Pakistani General Zia-ul-Haq in Jordan during operations against Palestinians, Pakistan’s participation in the Afghan conflict during the 1980s, the 1998 nuclear tests conducted in Chagai district of Balochistan, and Pakistan’s role during the post-9/11 period. The statement alleged that these events contributed to prolonged instability and conflict across the region.
The Republic of Balochistan maintained that lasting peace, development, and prosperity in the region would not be achievable while Pakistan remains in its present form. It called on the international community to recognize what it describes as Balochistan’s independence.
The organization further stated that it and what it describes as 60 million Baloch people consider Balochistan to be an independent and sovereign state. According to its position, Balochistan declared its independence on August 11, 1947, during the withdrawal of British rule from the Indian subcontinent. It claimed that reports of the declaration appeared in international media, including The New York Times, and were broadcast by All India Radio.
Based on this historical interpretation, they said the Baloch nation has observed August 11 as its Independence Day and intends to continue commemorating the date in the years ahead.
