The Indian Army and Assam Rifles continue to reinforce peace, security and public welfare across the Northeast through a combination of operational commitment, humanitarian assistance and community engagement.
At Keithalmanbi Garrison in Manipur’s Imphal West district, Assam Rifles paid homage to two gallant soldiers during separate wreath-laying ceremonies. Rifleman (GD) Bhim Sain, Sena Medal (Posthumous), was remembered on the 24th anniversary of his supreme sacrifice after saving fellow soldiers during a counter-insurgency operation in 2002. Subedar Kehar Singh, Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous), was also honoured for laying down his life while leading troops during an anti-insurgency operation in Chandel district in 2003. Senior officers, troops and personnel participated in the solemn ceremonies.
Highlighting its humanitarian role, Assam Rifles provided immediate medical assistance to an injured eight-year-old boy in , Zoldam village in Chandel district. Following first aid and stabilisation at the site, the child was evacuated to the Community Health Centre for specialised treatment, ensuring timely medical care.
In Kakching district, Assam Rifles observed World Population Day by conducting an awareness programme at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Umathel. The event focused on gender equality, women’s empowerment, family planning and maternal health, while also imparting practical training in CPR, first aid and basic health monitoring to over 600 students and teachers.
Further strengthening civil-military co-operation, Assam Rifles organised community interaction programmes in Machi and SL Zougam villages of Chandel district. Local community leaders reaffirmed their support for the security forces, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration in maintaining peace, security and development in the region.
Through sustained operational vigilance, humanitarian initiatives and community outreach, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles continue to play a pivotal role in fostering stability, strengthening trust with local communities and supporting inclusive development across the Northeast.
