Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann, AVSM, VM, assumed charge as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Southern Air Command on Tuesday, succeeding Air Marshal Manish Khanna, UYSM, AVSM, VM, who retired after nearly four decades of distinguished service in the Indian Air Force.

On his arrival at the Headquarters Southern Air Command, the Air Marshal was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour to mark the assumption of command.

Commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on 16 December 1989, Air Marshal Mann is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, the Higher Air Command Course, and the Royal College of Defence Studies, London. A qualified Pilot Attack Instructor, he has accumulated more than 3,000 flying hours on frontline combat platforms, including the Apache, MiG-21, Jaguar, MiG-29, Su-30 and Rafale.

During an illustrious career spanning nearly four decades, the Air Marshal has commanded a fighter squadron and led a premier fighter base. His extensive operational and staff experience includes appointments as Air Defence Commander, Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration at a Command Headquarters, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations–Offensive) and Director General (Weapon Systems) at Air Headquarters.

Before assuming his new appointment, Air Marshal Mann served as the Senior Air Staff Officer at Western Air Command, where he played a key role in enhancing joint operational preparedness and strengthening multi-domain capabilities.

In recognition of his distinguished service to the nation, Air Marshal Mann has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Vayu Sena Medal (VM).

He succeeds Air Marshal Manish Khanna, UYSM, AVSM, VM, who superannuated on 30 June 2026 after rendering nearly 40 years of exemplary service to the Indian Air Force.
