In a landmark tribute to the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee Year, the Government of Gujarat has dedicated the CHH-4B Circle at Gandhinagar as the “Bharatiya Tatrakshak Swarn Jayanti Circle”, commemorating five decades of the force’s distinguished service in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests.
The circle was inaugurated by Shri Harsh Sanghavi, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, in the presence of Inspector General Tekur Sashi Kumar, TM, Commander, Coast Guard Region (North West), senior officials of the State Government, Indian Coast Guard veterans, officers and enrolled personnel. The inauguration marks a significant milestone in the enduring partnership between the Indian Coast Guard and the State of Gujarat. Notably, it is the first public circle in the country dedicated exclusively to the Indian Coast Guard.
Designed as a symbol of the Indian Coast Guard’s operational prowess and unwavering commitment to maritime security, the circle prominently features a model of an Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), representing maritime vigilance, deterrence and the protection of India’s coastline and maritime boundaries. The installation also showcases a Dornier aircraft and an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), highlighting the Indian Coast Guard Aviation Wing’s capabilities in aerial surveillance, rapid response and extended maritime reach.
Statues of Coast Guard personnel have been incorporated to reflect the force’s professionalism, courage and round-the-clock vigilance in safeguarding the nation’s maritime domain. Further enhancing public engagement, a digital display wall has been installed to showcase the diverse operational activities and achievements of the Indian Coast Guard.
The “Bharatiya Tatrakshak Swarn Jayanti Circle” stands as a visible testament to the Indian Coast Guard’s contributions towards coastal security, maritime law enforcement, search and rescue operations, environmental protection and humanitarian assistance. The initiative is expected to strengthen public awareness about the service and inspire future generations by highlighting the Coast Guard’s critical role in nation-building and maritime governance.
The dedication of the circle reflects the Government of Gujarat’s recognition of the invaluable service rendered by the Indian Coast Guard over the past 50 years and reinforces the collective commitment towards strengthening India’s maritime security architecture.
