The countdown has begun for the 6th Assam Rifles Half Marathon 2026, scheduled to be held on November 22 at the Headquarters of the Directorate General of Assam Rifles (DGAR), Laitkor, Shillong. Bringing together running enthusiasts, fitness advocates and members of the local community, the annual sporting event aims to promote physical fitness, healthy living and the spirit of unity through sport.

Organised around three race categories — 21 km, 10 km and 5 km — the marathon is expected to attract participants from different age groups and fitness backgrounds, offering both seasoned runners and first-time participants an opportunity to be part of the event.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the half marathon reflects Assam Rifles’ continued emphasis on community engagement, fitness awareness and strengthening its bond with the people of the Northeast. By bringing people together on a common sporting platform, the event seeks to encourage an active lifestyle while fostering camaraderie, discipline and collective participation.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Shillong’s rolling hills and scenic landscape, the race promises participants an engaging running experience. Warm-up runs and advisory sessions are also aimed at building a stronger running culture and encouraging wider community involvement.
Participants will receive goodie bags, event T-shirts and finisher medals. Attractive prizes will also be awarded across various categories, including age-group competitions and overall championship categories.

The event will commence at 4:00 AM on November 22, with the race venue located at HQ DGAR, Laitkor, Shillong.
Adding to the excitement, organisers have announced an early-bird discount of 25 per cent, encouraging participants to register in advance and secure their places in the sixth edition.
