Mizoram is set to receive a major boost to rural connectivity, with the Ministry of Rural Development approving 45 road projects covering 509.54 km under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV), Batch-I, for FY 2026–27.
The projects, involving an estimated investment of ₹710.40 crore, will provide all-weather road connectivity to 48 habitations for the first time.
The improved road network is expected to enhance access to essential services, including schools, hospitals and rural markets, while supporting socio-economic development in remote areas of the state.
The initiative is also aligned with the Government’s broader vision of building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) through improved rural infrastructure and connectivity. New road network will provide all-weather connectivity to 48 habitations for the first time.
In addition to the latest approvals, a total of 367 road projects covering 4,935 km, along with seven bridges, have already been sanctioned for Mizoram under PMGSY at a cumulative cost of ₹3,412 crore.
