Demonstrating exceptional courage, endurance and operational determination in challenging high-altitude conditions, Indian Army mountaineering teams from Trishakti Corps and Brahmastra Corps have successfully scaled two prominent Himalayan peaks in Sikkim.

In a remarkable mountaineering achievement, a 24-member expedition team under Trishakti Corps successfully summited Mount Domekhang (7,264 metres) in North Sikkim. Launched on August 29, 2026, the expedition, titled ‘Arohan Ajeya’, tested the team’s physical endurance and mountaineering skills amid blizzards, steep ice walls and oxygen-depleted conditions.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Trishakti Corps, congratulated the team on its successful ascent, commending the mountaineers for their determination, teamwork and unwavering resolve in overcoming formidable Himalayan terrain.

In a separate achievement, a mountaineering team from Brahmastra Corps under Eastern Command successfully scaled Mount Thinchenkhang (6,010 metres) in the West Sikkim Himalayas. The team unfurled the National Flag at the summit, symbolising national pride and the Indian Army’s spirit of adventure and perseverance. The expedition culminated in a flagging-in ceremony.

Both expeditions underscore the Indian Army’s emphasis on physical fitness, leadership, teamwork and the ability to operate in extreme high-altitude environments. Such challenging undertakings also strengthen the mountain warfare skills, resilience and confidence of personnel operating in the formidable Himalayan region.

The successful summits reflect the Indian Army’s enduring spirit of courage, commitment and excellence, with its soldiers continuing to push the boundaries of human endurance while upholding the honour of the Tricolour in the Himalayas.
